Flight planners should confirm their saved routes align with current Aeronautical Information Regulation And Control (AIRAC) cycles, which update globally every 28 days with revised airspace and navigation information. This validation process involves checking that every waypoint, airway, and procedure in your stored route exists in the current navigation database and isn't scheduled for removal in upcoming AIRAC updates. Regular route validation prevents the operational disruption of having a flight plan rejected shortly before departure, which can cause delays, missed slots, and increased workload during the critical pre-departure phase. This simple verification step conserves valuable time and resources while ensuring smooth operations, as amending flight plans on short notice often requires refiling.

Validating saved routes can be found in the Tools section and by selecting the Saved Routes menu item. Select "More" to see an option to validate the route. If no errors are present in the route, a "Validate" and the corresponding AIRAC cycle number that it was validated against will appear. An "Invalid" will appear if there is a waypoint that is not in the AIRAC.
